Eye clinic moves into former Batavia elementary school

BATAVIA – A century-old former elementary school – renovated by a Rochester-based eye clinic – opened Friday with a ribbon-cutting and open house.

Washington School, used for many years as the district’s headquarters, was sold for $500,000 to Reed Eye Associates. The new owner built a new entrance from a rear parking lot and renovated what were once eight classrooms into offices. Reed’s operation took over the second floor.

The district offices moved to the senior high school after voters approved the sale last May. Reed has several eye clinics in the Rochester area.
