Loss placed at $1,500 in torching of teenage girl’s clothing

NIAGARA FALLS – Revenge is suspected in the torching of a teenage girl’s clothing while she was at her graduation ceremony, police said.

Police said an estimated $1,500 in new clothing and accessories were destroyed at a Haeberle Avenue home between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday. The clothing was placed in a pile in the backyard and set ablaze, said police, who added that some clothing of the victim’s boyfriend also was destroyed, police said.

Police said they are seeking to question a person of interest in the case.
