Frank J. Vesona Sr., Boulevard Barber Shop owner

April 27, 1929 – June 25, 2014

Frank J. Vesona Sr. of Cheektowaga, longtime barber and owner of Boulevard Barber Shop, died Wednesday in Mercy Hospital following a short illness. He was 85.

Born in Buffalo, he attended Burgard Vocational High School and Roberts Barber and Hair Styling School.

Mr. Vesona served in the Army as a medic, private first class, from 1949 to 1951.

He ran Boulevard Barber Shop in Cheektowaga from 1953 until his retirement in 2003. He was a Little League umpire and coach, a longtime usher at St. Barnabas Parish in Depew and an avid golfer.

Survivors include his wife, the former Frances Manguso; two sons, Frank Jr. and Anthony Sr.; two daughters, Margot Pierce and Karmen Penders; two sisters, Florence Juliano and Jane Emmanuele; and nine grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Martha Parish, 10 French Road, Depew, with prayers at 9 in Pacer Funeral Home, 2275 George Urban Blvd.
