Antoinette C. Giannicchi, a longtime community volunteer, died Sunday in her West Seneca home after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 72.
Born Antoinette C. Grabowski in Buffalo, she graduated from Villa Maria High School in 1960 and continued to be involved in alumni events through the years.
Active in the local community, she volunteered at the skilled nursing facility and gift shop at Mercy Hospital for more than 20 years.
A 40-year member at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, she also was a past member of the Mother’s Club at St. Casimir Catholic Church.
On election days, she served at the polls in West Seneca for many years.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Gerald V.; two sons, Anthony and Robert; a daughter, Annemarie Talty; two sisters, Dolores Plewinski and Pauline Rojek; and eight grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Thursday in St. Casimir Catholic Church.
