Two overnight fires injure four firefighters

Four Buffalo firefighters suffered minor injuries early today in two separate fires that left eight people in need of temporary shelter. The first fire occurred shortly after midnight in a two-and-half story wood frame home at 43 Military Road.

The fire was caused by unattended cooking, started on the second floor and spread to the attic.

Damage was reported at $120,000. Two adults and one child received housing assistance from the Red Cross.

The second fire occurred shortly after 1 a.m. at 23 Decker in a two-story house where one adult and four children needed temporary shelter.

Damage was estimated at $75,000 and the cause is under investigation.
