MAYVILLE – Thursday’s pretrial hearing in Chautauqua County Court was canceled for an Elmira man charged in the April 2013 slaying of a Frewsburg couple,
Davide Coggins, 34, of Elmira, is one of four suspects charged in the deaths of Gordon and Joyce Skinner, who were murdered in their home. The couple had been tortured and their home set on fire. A motive for the attack has not been disclosed.
District Attorney David Foley said the hearing was canceled because Public Defender Nathaniel Barone asked for more time to examine evidence presented at previous pretrial hearings. The trial is on the September calendar of Chautauqua County Judge John Ward in September.
Coggins and Joshua McCormick, 21, of Elmira have been charged with first-degree murder. Ricky Knickerbocker and Steven Todd, both 18. are charged with second-degree murder.
