Legends of Wrestling bouts will be held Saturday at Brauns Concert Cove, 11891 Main Road, Akron. The event will honor local wrestling legends Ilio DiPaolo and Dick “The Destroyer” Beyer. Other stars on the event include the Nasty Boys, Garrett Bischoff, Bushwhacker Luke and Barry Hardy as well as WWE Hall of Famers Koko B. Ware and Greg “The Hammer” Valentine. General admission is $20; $10 for children 12 and under. $90 VIP passes include a photo and autograph session from 2-6 p.m. along with front row tickets to the wrestling event. West Seneca Gems girls U15 travel soccer team won the 2014 U16 Al Odenbach Cup June 8. The Gems defeated Clarence Inferno Red 2-1 in the championship game. Katie Ziemba scored the Gems’ first goal with the game-winning goal scored by midfielder Claire Purdy with under four minutes left. Tournament MVP goalkeeper Katie Todaro recorded three wins including back-to-back shutouts in the first two games.


BASEBALL: The University at Buffalo baseball coaching staff will host three summer camp sessions at the Northtown Center in Amherst. The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and consist of drills for infield and outfield defense, pitching, base running and batting, with instruction from the UB coaching staff, private batting cage use and skill contests. Session one will run from June 30 to July 2 for ages 12-17, cost is $160. Session two will be July 7-10 for ages 6-12. Cost is $190. Session three will be from Aug. 11-13 for ages 6-12. Cost is $160. HOCKEY: Openings still remain for the Paul Grundtisch Shooting & Stickhandling School at Leisure Rinks in West Seneca on July 7–10 from 10 a.m. to noon. This unique program has combined both the art of stickhandling & shooting into one instructional program. Through various drills and techniques staff will work toward the goal of making the hockey player more creative carrying the puck and at the same time improve their shooting and scoring abilities. RUNNING: The Subaru Buffalo 4-Mile Chase will be July 18 at 7 p.m. For applications or to register online visit Runners who have never entered in the past are eligible for a $10 entry fee and must enter by Monday. Winners of Road Races 5k or more from Jan. 1, 2014 to July 13, 2014 as well as runners 70 and over may enter for free. Race directors of upcoming races to be held after July 18 are welcome to have their applications included in the Subaru race packets. Applications must be received by July 11. SPORTS INFORMATION: Erie Community College has an opening for a part-time sports information director starting this fall semester. The SID will be responsible for promoting 12 NJCAA varsity sport programs on all three campuses for the entire 2014-15 school year, maintaining team statistics, season results and submitting regional reports. Minimum qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in communications, sports management or a related field. Have a strong knowledge of AP style of writing, sports statistics and statistical software, and have desktop publishing experience. Photography experience is preferred.
