Canadian pleads guilty to throwing punch that left victim in a coma

DARIEN – A Canadian pleaded guilty Tuesday to assault for punching another man during the Kid Rock concert last July 5 at Darien Performing Arts Center, leaving the victim in a coma for several weeks.

Craig Lawson, 35, of Ontario pleaded guilty in Genesee County Court before his trial was scheduled to begin. Police said Lawson attacked Jason McNeil, a native of Alden, who lives in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and was back home for a visit at the time. He spent several weeks in a coma before being released from the hospital.

Lawson, who will be sentenced in August, faces up to year in jail.
