Injuries in Toronto mean roster moves in Buffalo.
As anticipated outfielders Kevin Pillar and Anthony Gose were recalled to the Blue Jays with Brett Lawrie going on the disabled list with a broken finger and Jose Bautista out of the lineup for a few days with a left hamstring strain.
Gose is starting in right field and batting ninth for the Blue Jays tonight as they host the New York Yankees. Former Bison Marcus Stroman is on the mound.
Back in Buffalo, catcher Erik Kratz was optioned to the Herd. The Bisons also announced the pitchers Liam Hendriks and Steve Delabar were activated. Both were optioned by Toronto on June 20. Hendriks is scheduled to start for the Herd on Tuesday.
Reliever Austin Bibens-Dirkz was transferred back to Double-A New Hampshire.
Meanwhile, there's a game to be played in Buffalo as the Herd closes out the five-game in four-days series with the Rochester Red Wings (7:05 p.m., TWC, Radio 1520).
- Esmil Rogers makes his third start for the Herd. He is 1-1 with a 3.79 ERA and has 21 strikeouts in 19 innings of work.
- Brad Glenn has a seven-game hitting streak. Since June 17 the outfielder is batting .462 and has driven in eight runs. In his 29 games with the Bisons, Glenn has hit safely in 25 of them.
- Because it's the Thruway Cup, we offer this look at the standings: Buffalo is 8-6 and now tied with Syracuse (9-7) for first place in the standings. Rochester is 5-9 and three games back of the three-team competition.
