Lackawanna man admits possession of a gun

A Lackawanna man who fired a shotgun at people outside his home last summer, then hid the gun in his attic pleaded guilty last week to two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

James H. Rosado, 26, of Franklin Street, fired the shortened 12 gauge, pump action shotgun July 12, then ran into his house, prosecutors said.

When questioned by police, he denied having the gun or shooting at anyone. His girlfriend gave police written permission to search the home, and they found the shotgun and spent ammunition under the attic floor boards, prosecutors said.

Rosado faces up to 15 years in prison when he is setenced June 30 by State Supreme Court Justice Russell P. Buscaglia, according to Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III.
