A no tolerance policy will be enforced during great valley regatta

LITTLE VALLEY – In an effort to ensure that everyone has a safe and fun time during the Great Valley Regatta running Friday and Saturday, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday the “no tolerance” policy it will follow on illegal parking, drug use, underage drinking, drunken drivers, ATV traffic on public roadways, trespassing on camping areas and boat thefts.

At the request of event organizers, the sheriff’s office made it clear tickets will be issued for illegal parking on Klawitter Road, Kill Buck Road and Route 219. Arrests will also be made for underage drinking driving while intoxicated, ATVs on public roadways, illegal drug use, trespassing on camping grounds and thefts of boats.

To ensure enforcement of the policy the sheriff’s office has organized extra traffic enforcement cars and an underage drinking detail that will be on foot patrol in the campgrounds and pit stop areas. Undercover officers from the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force assisted by a K-9 officer and a security detail for the campgrounds and boat drop off area will also be in operation.

The sheriff’s office also asked that minors be in the company of a responsible adult.
