A gun safe and laptop are stolen in a Newfane burglary

NEWFANE – A 35-year-old woman told Niagara County sheriff’s deputies that sometime between 3 p.m. Monday and 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday someone broke into her home in the 3700 block of Day Road.

She said she found a laptop was missing and a gun safe was gone. The safe contained a shotgun, a rifle, assorted ammunition, two hunting knives and gun information. Total loss was listed at $3,600.

The victim told deputies that she had believed all the doors and windows were secured, but found a rear door was open and a board used to secure a sliding door had been dislodged.

The case was turned over to the sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Bureau.
