SYLVES - Shirley Ann Age 81, of Fort Myers Beach, FL, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014. Formerly of Buffalo, NY, she had been a resident of Fort Myers Beach for the last 25 years. She was born March 23, 1933 in Buffalo, the daughter of Everett P. and Florence (ne;e Denz) Kolb. Shirley was an avid bowler for many years and an absolute lover of orchids. She was active in the Church of the Ascension's Women's Guild; a 25 year member of the Florida Home and Community Education Council; a 15 year volunteer cashier for St Columbkille Thrift Shop; and a 22 year ticket salesperson at the Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast and St. Patrick's Day Parade food tent. Shirley loved meeting people and making them laugh. She is sorely missed. Mrs. Sylves is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, James F. Sylves. She was the dearest mother of five children: Dr. Ann Sylves (David Corp), Thomas (Eileen) Sylves, Karen Sylves Wilson, William Sylves and Sandra (Howard) Goetterman. Also surviving are her loving grandchildren: Kevin (Jeff Wong) Sylves, Michael (Mary) Sylves, Katie (Michael Albanese) Sylves, Jessica (Steven) Sikora, James Wilson and Jeffrey (Melissa) Mejak. Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Trail South, Bonita Springs. There will be a scripture service at 5:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Ascension, 6025 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach.
