The New York State Golden Gloves finals begin at 5 p.m. Saturday at The Tralf in downtown Buffalo.
There will be 13 state championship bouts over three competitive classes, with the open-class champions advancing to next month’s national tournament in Las Vegas.
Buffalo-area boxers who still have a shot at winning open-class titles include a pair of all-Western New York clashes with past champion Drew Grazadei facing fellow Buffalonian Duane Williams in the super heavyweight class. At 141 pounds, Akmed Aliyev of Buffalo faces Trevon Hopkins (Buffalo). The 132- and 152-open finals feature Buffalo boxers against downstate opposition. Jeffrey Nguyot of Buffalo meets Rochester’s Sequan Felton at 132. Mike Stevens draws Syracuse’s Luis Vargas at 152.
Advancee tickets for the show are $25 (general admission) and $35 (ringside). Tickets prices increase by $5 if purchased the day of the fight. Tickets can be purchased at Carubba Collision (876-0700), the Tralf Box office (852-2860) and Doris Records.
