Kennedy, N.Y., man arrested for felony DWI and menacing a state trooper

JAMESTOWN – A 58-year-old man from Kennedy, N.Y., was arrested by state troopers assigned to the Jamestown office after he allegedly threatened a trooper with a billy club when officers were sent to his house about 5 p.m. Sunday to check on him for allegedly yelling at Poland Center Road neighbors.

William R. Swanson was quickly subdued, and tests showed he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.26 percent, more than three times the state’s legal limit for drivers. Swanson was charged with felony menacing a police officer, felony driving while intoxicated, criminal possession of a weapon and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned in Ellicott Town Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.
