Vehicle break-ins reported in Niagara Falls

NIAGARA FALLS – A purse and backpacks were reported stolen in two smash and grab thefts from vehicles Monday evening.

A 44-year-old female tourist who was in Niagara Falls to view the falls with her family said sometime between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. while parked on Buffalo Avenue at the Red Coach Inn someone broke the front passenger window of her 2007 Honda Odyssey and took two backpacks from the front passenger seat. The loss and damage was estimated at $350.

Another car larceny was reported between 4 and 6 p.m. outside the Packard Court Community Center at 4300 Pine Ave.

A 36-year-old woman said someone smashed the front passenger window of her 2014 Honda Odyssey and took her Vera Bradley purse and wallet, which had been left on the floor in the front passenger side of the van. She said the wallet contained her driver’s license, debit card and credit cards. The victim told police that as she was canceling her cards she was told that several purchases had already been made in unknown amounts at Kmart, Sunoco, Dollar General and Mid City Plaza.
