Friends of Night People celebrates opening of food pantry

Friends of Night People officially celebrated the opening of its food pantry Tuesday evening at its main location, 394 Hudson St. at Wadsworth Street, in Buffalo’s Allentown neighborhood.

The food pantry began operations from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in January and each night assists about 35 individuals and families, some of them homeless.

Joseph Heary, executive director of Friends of Night People, notes that most food pantries do not serve the homeless. “This allows them to have more options so that they do not have to worry about getting to an area kitchen every day for lunch or dinner,” he says.
