Cabela’s plans to hire 225 for Cheektowaga store

Cabela’s Crossing, the outdoor store that plans to open in Cheektowaga this fall, announced today it intends to hire 225 full-time and part-time employees for the store.

“We are looking for candidates capable of introducing Cabela’s legendary customer service to the company’s first New York location,” said Scott Armstrong, general manager of the new store. “Thousands of loyal Cabela’s customers live in Cheektowaga and the surrounding area and they deserve quality service from knowledgeable employees.”

The 88,000-square-foot store – Cabela’s first New York location – will be located at the southeast corner of I-90 and Walden Avenue in a shopping center renamed “Cabela’s Crossing.” The store design is intended to surround customers in an outdoor-like experience with museum-quality wildlife displays. In addition to outdoor products, the store will include a large mountain replica, indoor archery range and archery tech room, Gun Library, Bargain Cave, Boat Shop, Deli and Fudge Shop.

Applications are being accepted now and must be submitted online. Anyone interested in applying should visit, click on “Apply Now,” then select United States and Cheektowaga, N.Y., for the location and click “Search.” Follow instructions to log in and apply. Applying does not guarantee an interview.

Interviews will take place May 12 to 16 at the Millennium Hotel located at 2040 Walden Avenue in Buffalo. Most employees are expected to come from Cheektowaga and the surrounding area.

Cabela’s operates 53 stores across North America with plans to open an additional 21 over the next two years.

Cabela’s Crossing would replace the former Wegmans Food market in what’s been known as Walden Village shopping center. The Home2 Suites by Hilton would be built between the Burlington Coat Factory and the Thruway. Its target market is the regional and Canadian shoppers who visit the area.
