Lowdown: Evans racked up huge numbers the past two seasons with quarterback Johnny Manziel. The former Division I basketball recruit uses his vertical skills to make contested catches over defensive backs. … Terrific strength after the catch. Averaged 20 yards per catch in 2013 and was at his best in big games. Had 18 catches for 566 yards and five touchdowns against Alabama and Auburn. … Was not asked to run all the routes he’ll be required to in the NFL. To that end, Evans has been working on his route running with former Bills receiver James Lofton. … Plays with an edge, but sometimes crosses the line with his temper. … Top-end speed is not in the “elite” category.

He said it: “I think a lot of other basketball players should play football. We have the qualities. If there's a jump ball in the air, treat it like a rebound. It helps me get off the press, use my quickness like when I used to dribble. Everything just incorporates into football.”
