Veterans Helping Veterans debuts Tuesday in North Tonawanda

NORTH TONAWANDA – A new pilot program, Veterans Helping Veterans, gets underway Tuesday in North Tonawanda.

The goal of the program is to assist veterans and their spouses by offering volunteer services such as transportation to medical appointments at VA clinics, grocery shopping and in some cases just stopping by for a friendly visit.

The program was initiated as part of the Mayor’s Day of Recognition and is sponsored by North Tonawanda Mayor Robert G. Ortt and the Niagara County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program - RSVP.

The program is currently seeking volunteers, especially veterans, to help other veterans. Call the RSVP office at 285-8224, ext. 216 or email Dolling at RSVP is a Senior Corps program of the Corporation for National and Community Service.
