Burglary probe betrays whiff of marijuana grow operation in Newfane

NEWFANE – An attempted burglary investigation on Ide Road Saturday night led Niagara County sheriff’s deputies to marijuana grow operation at a Hillcrest Avenue address, authorities said.

Chad C. Regling, 28, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawfully growing cannibis. Deputies and members of the Niagara County Drug Task Force, armed with a search warrrant, found 44 marijuana plants in a rear bedroom, tents and lighting designed to grow it and painkillers.

Regling faces a court appearance on April 15 in Town of Newfane Court.
