Where we live: Amherst

Sweet Home High School was the winner among 30 area high schools competing in AT&T’s “It Can Wait” anti-texting and driving campaign.

The school will get a visit from Buffalo Sabres goaltender Jhonas Enroth during an assembly Monday afternoon.

AT&T and the Sabres recently teamed up for the campaign to encourage students, parents and teachers to “take the pledge” not to text and drive. Sweet Home collected the most pledges.

“Our students did an exceptional job with their peers, teachers and parents to drive home the message about the dangers of texting and driving during this campaign with the Sabres and AT&T,” said Joleen Reinholz, Sweet Home principal.

In addition to the assembly, the school’s hockey team had the opportunity to attend a practice session with Sabres Center Cody Hodgson.
