Cellphone gets driver in double trouble

A Buffalo man is charged with making a fake 911 call while pulled over for a traffic stop.

Police say Giulio V. Cedri, 53, of 15th Street, was being stopped at Parkside and Woodbridge avenues at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday – accused of talking on his cellphone while driving – when he called 911 and reported “shots fired” at Colvin and Hertel avenues.

Cedri is alleged to have placed the call in an effort to get the officer who pulled him over to leave the scene and respond to the phony shooting.

He is charged with falsely reporting an incident and illegal use of a mobile phone.
