Let church use park for its Easter service

The Rev. Douglas Sukhia of Armor Bible Church gave all the right reasons for expecting permission to use Chestnut Ridge casino for a sunrise service on Easter Sunday. Why would Erie County Parks officials deny such a reasonable request? I am a Catholic and a group I belong to has a picnic and a Mass in the park every year without incident. What makes this different?

I’ll bet if a request for the casino were of a political nature or a beer blast, there would be no such problem. We’re losing too many of our religious freedoms already and it all starts by government entities denying small requests such as not allowing a religious service “in the interest of the public.” God help us.
