Global Spectrum, the Philadelphia-based subsidiary of Comcast Spectacor that will be running operations at Canalside, will be hiring for at least 25 full-time positions in Buffalo, including administrative jobs as well as maintenance, groundskeepers and other similar roles, the chairman of Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp. said Thursday.
Additionally, said Robert Gioia, the company will also be adding part-time staff, seasonal staff and interns to handle specific events or other needs.
Global Spectrum won a series of contracts from ECHDC to maintain and operate Canalside, including the summer concert series. Those contracts and work had previously been performed by Buffalo Place, but Gioia noted that the scope of the work has increased.
“We’ve really expanded not only the season but also our area of responsibility,” he said. “So it’s only natural that we would hire more and add to the group.”
