Barry E. Snyder Jr., former smoke shop owner

Barry E. Snyder Jr., former owner of a well- known local smoke shop and son of Barry E. Snyder, president of the Seneca Nation of Indians, died Thursday in Lake Shore Hospital, Irving. He was 52.

He owned and operated Jr’s Smoke Shop in Irving for a number of years.

Mr. Snyder, of Irving, was born in Buffalo and was a 1979 graduate of Silver Creek High School, where he played quarterback and defensive end on the football team.

He attended Hudson Valley Community College in Troy and was a member of the Beaver Clan of the Seneca Nation.

Mr. Snyder was known for his love of motorcycles and his collection of automobiles.

He also owned a home in Scottsdale, Ariz.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his mother, Deanna Jimerson Snyder Sr.; seven sons, Barry E. III, Jacob, Seth, Dakota, Steve, Shadow and Gage; a daughter, Fallon; two brothers, Scott and Ryan; and 16 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Route 438 Extension, Irving.
