Former Illinois man pleads not guilty to Falls crack dealing

LOCKPORT – A man who moved from Illinois to Niagara Falls last year was arraigned Thursday in Niagara County Court on charges that he entered the Falls’ crack cocaine trade.

Tyler C. Smith, 19, of LaSalle Avenue, pleaded not guilty to two counts each of third-degree criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance. He is accused of selling crack to an undercover police officer Oct. 7 and 8.

Meanwhile, a former drug dealer celebrated his successful completion of the judicial diversion program of court-supervised drug treatment. Brendan J. Anderson, 38, of Eighth Avenue, North Tonawanda, was allowed to reduce his felony conviction to a misdemeanor, and County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III said he will sentence Anderson to probation April 10. He pleaded guilty in 2012 to selling painkiller pills in 2011 in North Tonawanda.
