Over $3,000 worth of guns stolen in Newfane

NEWFANE – Residents of a home in the 6300 block of Jockey Street told Niagara County sheriff’s deputies that someone entered through an unlocked side door between noon and 3 p.m. on Tuesday and took four guns and a change jar.

Suspicious footprints and ATV tracks were located around the house, according to Niagara County sheriff’s deputies.

The owners told deputies that a jar with $150 in assorted change, a Browning Buck 12 gauge shotgun, a Beretta over/under 12 gauge shotgun, a 7.62 Hungarian Mouser with a nickel barrel and steel butt plate, and Remington over/under 12 gauge shotgun were stolen. Both the Beretta and the Remington had handmade walnut barrels, according to the victim. The total loss was $3,450.
