McCormick’s hat trick helps Junior Sabres end losing streak

Darren McCormick’s first Ontario Junior Hockey League hat trick helped propel the Buffalo Junior Sabres to a 10-4 win over Hamilton in the Northtown Center at Amherst. Josh Gabriel also scored twice and had an assist, while Michael Ederer, Ben Casale, Pat Egan and Max Mikowski each had a goal and an assist for Buffalo, which snapped a six-game losing streak.

Nico Gonzalez also scored for the Junior Sabres (18-8-3), who remained in first place in the West Division and return to action at 8 p.m. Saturday in Burlington.

The team’s next home game is Dec. 10 against Georgetown. The game will serve as the Junior Sabres’ annual Teddy Bear Toss game where fans are asked to bring a new teddy bear to the game and throw it on the ice for donation after Buffalo’s first goal.
