NIAGARA FALLS – A joint forum. which will focus on some of the issues sexually active teens face, will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. tonight in the second floor auditorium of the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center at 1201 Pine Ave.
The forum is sponsored by Niagara Youth Rising Community Council, Planned Parenthood of Western New York, Native American Community Services, Northpointe Council, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and is open to youth, parents and members of the community.
According to Niagara Youth Rising the Niagara Falls School district has been ranked third in the state for teen chlamydia rates and Niagara County is ranked sixth overall for teen STD rates and 12th for pregnancies of teens ages 10 to 14, rates which contribute to poverty, health issues, pre-term labor and developmental disabilities.
The forum will discuss these issues and debate viewpoints on sex education, with a goal to raise awareness and propose solutions.
