Clarence man gets jail term for choking former girlfriend

A 19-year-old Clarence man was ordered by Cheektowaga Town Justice Paul S. Piotrowski today to spend the next 45 days in jail for choking his former girlfriend last spring.

The judge told Javohn Peterson of White Acres Road, that his conviction on criminal obstruction of breathing and petit larceny charges was “the type of conduct that won’t be tolerated by the court and warrants incarceration.” Peterson was arrested by Cheektowaga police on July 4 for breaking into his former girlfriend’s Balbach Drive home in Cheektowaga May 4 and choking her. The woman called police on her cell phone after Peterson left.
