Betty G. Buyers, owner of concrete business

Betty G. Buyers, of Clarence, longtime owner and operator of a concrete business, died Monday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst. She was 83.

Born Betty Gray in Batavia, Mrs. Buyers was a 1947 graduate of Batavia High School and a 1949 graduate of the Eastman School of Dental Hygiene.

With her husband, Robert F., she owned and operated Robert F. Buyers Ready Mix Concrete in Lancaster for more than 25 years, retiring in the early 1980s.

Mrs. Buyers was a member of Amherst Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; the Clarence garden and book clubs; and Clarence Senior Center. She also enjoyed playing bridge.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, survivors include a daughter, Yvonne Buyers-Hicks, and a brother, Wayne Gray.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Harris Hill United Methodist Church, 8495 Main St. at Harris Hill Road, Clarence.
