Arrest of Jamestown man for assault on child announced

JAMESTOWN – Jamestown police said Wednesday that a 35-year-old Jamestown man has been charged with assaulting a one-year-old child left in his car nearly three weeks ago.

Michael C. Olay Jr. was taken into custody Thursday on a felony charge of second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child for the alleged Oct. 13 incident in a Jamestown home they would not identify. The case was investigated by the Jamestown Police Department and the Chautauqua County Child Protective Services. The current condition and whereabouts of the alleged young victim of the physical attack was not disclosed by police.
