STEINWACHS, Edward Oscar

STEINWACHS - Edward Oscar 98, of Sarasota, FL, died at Hospice House on October 27, 2013. Born August 19, 1915 in Buffalo, NY, the oldest of six children, Edward graduated from Hutchinson Central High School in 1933 and married his wife of 73 years, Margaret Clark, in 1940. Employed at American Allsafe before going into business for himself in 1942, Edward was the Founder and President of Steinwachs Safety Supply, a safety equipment distributor, and EMED Company, an industrial and interior sign manufacturer, both located in Buffalo, NY. In partnership with his two sons, Donald and Paul, Edward was responsible for shaping EMED into an industry leader and creating over 200 local jobs. In retirement, he was an avid gardener, Apple computer aficionado, and family ancestry researcher, tracing his Steinwachs lineage back to the 1600s. He is survived by his wife Margaret; sons Donald and Paul; brothers: Clayton and Harold; sisters Jeanette Mueller and Carole Thompson; grandchildren Jean Childs, Karen Berdysiak, Kevin, Mark, and Jeffrey Steinwachs; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Martha's Catholic Church, Sarasota, FL, on Tuesday, October 29 at 10 AM.
