Suspect apprehended after 7-Eleven robbery in Amherst

Amherst detectives used surveillance video to nab a robbery suspect accused of wielding a knife in a holdup of a 7-Eleven store over the weekend, police officials reported Monday.

Authorities say the thief entered the 7-Eleven store at 2550 Millersport Highway at about 11:50 p.m. Saturday, pulled out a knife and demanded money. He fled with a small amount of cash and some cigarettes.

About three hours later, Detectives James Jackson and Daniel Quinlan charged Richard McCune, 19, of no permanent address, with first-degree robbery, weapons possession and petit larceny, according to police reports.
