Falls ‘Be Our PAL’ festival offers races, vehicle displays, auctions

NIAGARA FALLS – The second annual Niagara Police Athletic League “Be Our PAL” festival and telethon is set for 10 a.m. Saturday in Niagara Falls High School.

The event will include the first “Cops and Kids” four-mile run or walk, with a one-mile fun run.

The start will be televised on cable channel 21, the Our Schools Channel in the Falls area, as part of the telethon.

The registration fee for the four-mile race is $20 for adults and $10 for students. The cost for the fun run is $5. Runners can register online at

Other activities and events during the day include police, fire and military vehicle displays in the east parking lot of the school.

The Niagara Falls Fire Department “smoke house” and Niagara Falls Police Department car safety check also will be in the parking lot. The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Division will be present.

Recycling of electronic waste and rechargeable batteries will be available on the school loading dock, and a basket raffle auction and vendor fair will be held in the cafeteria.

A bounce house and face painting also will be offered.
