Lockport man pleads guilty to Newfane bank robbery

LOCKPORT – James Marquette Williams, 31, of Lockport, pleaded guilty Friday before Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas to attempted robbery in the third degree for a January robbery of the Bank of America branch at 2700 North Main St. in Newfane. He faces sentencing on his felony plea at 2 p.m. Oct. 18.

Williams was tracked down by Niagara County Sheriff’s Investigators John Wick, William Evans and Ronald Dworzanski and confessed to the robbery, authorities said.

Investigators said Williams entered the bank about 12:30 p.m. Jan. 2 wearing sunglasses and with white tape covering his face. He gave a teller a note and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
