DWI arrests include man charged with driving under influence of drugs

A man driving under the influence of drugs was among several unrelated DWI arrests made by Erie County sheriff’s deputies overnight.

Dennis J. Stanek, 60, of Depew, was pulled over at about 12:30 a.m. today after failing to stop at a stop sign on Krupp Avenue, at Broadway, in Buffalo, deputies reported. He was charged with driving while intoxicated by drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation – for driving with a suspended license – and unspecified traffic infractions.

Deputies said Stanek refused to submit to a blood test to determine his level of intoxication.

Approximately two hours earlier, Jill A. Larosa, 46, of Tonawanda, was pulled over along Route 219 in the Town of Concord after someone complained about a southbound vehicle being driven erratically, deputies said. A breath test indicated her blood-alcohol content was .18 – more than twice the legal limit.

Larosa was charged with aggravated DWI and unspecified traffic violations.

At about 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, Tabitha R. Schmigel, 32, of Lackawanna, was pulled over on Shepard Street in Buffalo for undisclosed equipment violations. Deputies said Schmigel, who refused to submit to a breath test to determine her blood-alcohol content, was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with open alcoholic beverages, possession of marijuana and unspecified traffic infractions.

All three were released on appearance tickets after they were booked.
