Acting Homeland Security Secretary in Buffalo today

The acting Secretary of Homeland Security is in Buffalo today to inspect border security operations.

Officials said the secretary, Rand Beers, also will receive operational briefings from employees of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Beers is traveling with CBP Acting Commissioner Thomas Winkowski.

From here, the acting secretary will travel to Montreal for the 38th Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization and to meet with his international counterparts.

Beers is expected to discuss aviation security while at the meeting before traveling to Ottawa to meet with Canadian public safety officials.
