Robbers escape with cash, cigarettes in Wheatfield holdup

WHEATFIELD – Authorities are looking for two men in the robbery of Matty’s Food Mart at 3819 Forest Parkway late Friday night.

Two employees were forced to the floor while a masked man claiming to have a gun stole cash and cigarettes from the store about 11:42 p.m.

Niagara County sheriff’s investigators believe the two bandits arrived at the store in a black sport utility vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet.

The gunman was described as black, about 6 feet tall with a large build and wearing a baseball cap and a gray hoodie, with the hood over his head. His accomplice was described only as a light-complected black, heavy-set and about 6-foot-5.

Deputies said the gunman threatened to kill one employee, who filled a bag with about $200. The bandits also made off with five packs of cigarettes, deputies said. No gun was displayed, deputies added.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Sheriff’s Office at (716) 438-3393 or (716) 438-3337.
