W0LKIND, Richard Owen

WOLKIND - Richard Owen Age 88, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2013 in Palm Harbor, FL. He was born in Buffalo, NY on July 18, 1925, where he was raised. He was a World War II veteran, serving a year and a half in the Philippines. After his military service, he attended the University of Buffalo and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1949. After a lengthy self-employed stint in commercial real estate and development, he launched into a second career in the medical field, specifically urology, an endeavor he pursued into his last year of life. He was a true gentleman and was interested in everything the world had to offer: work, travel politics, nature, food, sports, the humanities. First and foremost, however, he loved his family and was an amazing listener and counselor. He was never too busy to give his undivided attention and share his wisdom and insight. He is survived by Claire V. Wolkind, his wife of 38 years; daughter Wendy Siebert of Buffalo, NY; sons Thomas C. Dickson (Johanna H. Dickson) of Haymarket, VA, David C. Dickson (Alexander Taratov) of Atlanta, GA, and Paul C. Dickson (Brandice D. Dickson) of Tallahassee, FL and four beautiful granddaughters: Jenny, Delaney, Hannah and Rachel. Funeral services were held on Tuesday September 17th at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home in Clearwater, Florida. Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home 727-796-1992
