Man admits to $3,700 in thefts from two Town of Niagara stores

LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man pleaded guilty Friday to four-figure thefts from two Town of Niagara stores, and was admitted to the judicial diversion program of court-supervised drug treatment.

Matthew Handley, 45, of A Street, admitted to fourth-degree grand larceny and petit larceny before Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III. Handley faces up to four years in prison if he washes out of the diversion program.

On April 8, Handley stole $1,499.97 worth of merchandise from the Saks Off 5th store in Fashion Outlets of Niagara. Between July 17 and 23, he took $1,184.55 worth of goods from the Kmart store on Military Road.

Handley will have to pay restitution to the stores as part of his sentence.
