Buffalo attorney pleads to federal tax fraud charges

A Buffalo attorney pleaded guilty to misdemeanor federal tax fraud charges Friday for failing to disclose more than $22,000 in income for 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Lisa M. Yaeger, 49, who has worked in various local government agencies and maintained a private law practice, pleaded to three misdemeanor charges of submitting false documents to the Internal Revenue Service when she appeared before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Gretchen L. Wylegala said Yaeger faces a maximum penalty of up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $100,000 or both on each of the charges when she is sentenced on Feb. 10.
