Program that assists youth with school, sports gets grant

The First Niagara Foundation is giving a $10,000 grant to help Willie Hutch Jones Educational and Sports Programs provide character-building activities and instructional help at no charge for youth in Buffalo and Lackawanna.

The Willie Hutch Jones organization offers 16 sports clinics during the summer ranging from basketball to rowing. During the school year, it provides an after-school program that offers homework help, computer labs, math and science programs, and extracurricular activities such as acting and tap dancing lessons, a chess club and steel drum instruction.
