Letter: Congress should ensure jobs do not go overseas

Congress should ensure jobs do not go overseas

More bad news regarding the American economy: Detroit declares bankruptcy. In addition, what have we experienced all over America: Schools closing, churches closing and merging, population declines, businesses closing left and right, the ability to save money being negatively impacted, unemployment continuing at record levels and the jobs that are available cannot come close to supporting a family.

The list goes on and on, but what is the common denominator? America’s trade policies that promote businesses moving off shore, and now behind closed doors what is called Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), which would be the largest trade deal in history, is being crafted. It would make it easier for companies to move their operations overseas, which may be the last nail in the coffin for the U.S. economy.

Corporate lobbyists are pushing this deal. The loss of these jobs is the reason for all of the bad news I stated above. We need to reverse this exportation of our standard of living before it is too late. America, get angry and let your Congressional Representatives know that enough is enough, we need to put America first.
