Romero makes his 13th start

Ricky Romero is back from a brief illness and scheduled to start for the Bisons as they open a four-game series with the Columbus Clippers tonight (7 p.m., Radio 1520).

Romero has six quality starts in his last seven outings and has won two straight. In his last start on July 14, he tossed a season-high eight innings giving up one run on four hits.

Happ to start on Tuesday: J.A. Happ will make his Bisons debut Tuesday night as he continues his Major League Rehabilitation. Happ has been on the Toronto Blue Jays disabled list since May 8 after being hit in the head by a line drive in a game in Tampa Bay the night before. The lefty was 2-2 with a 4.91 ERA in seven starts with the Blue Jays before the injury.

Sierra, Wagner return: Moises Sierra is back in the Bisons lineup today. The outfielder missed 15 games on the disabled list with a hamstring injury. With the Herd this season, he has hit .264 with 26 extra-base hits while driving in 30 runs. Neil Wagner has been activated to the team's roster after being optioned to Buffalo. He was with Toronto since May 29.

Vargas, Velez released: The Bisons released right-handed pitcher Claudio Vargas and outfielder Eugenio Velez from their contracts on Monday.
