Puddle of Mudd opens Labatt Canal Concert Series

It’s been a while since Puddle of Mudd was at the forefront of the rock world. The band’s 2001 studio debut “Come Clean” was a huge seller of the post-grunge era, moving more than 5 million units. Since then, the Kansas City, Mo., quartet – fronted by Wes Scantlin, the only consistent member in the band’s 20-year history – has kept busy with a number of similar but smaller releases, including 2009’s “Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love & Hate” and its most recent LP, “Re:(disc)overed,” a covers album that paid predictable dues to the likes of AC/DC, the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin.

You can “re:(disc)over” Puddle of Mudd yourself on Friday when the band opens the Labatt Canal Concert Series, a lineup of free concerts that runs every Friday through Aug. 16 at the Ulrich City Center (35 Chestnut St., Lockport). The concert starts at 6 p.m., and will also feature the Canadian rock trio the Balconies, Rochester singer/songwriter Melia and Buffalo’s Whiskey Reverb. To see the full schedule, go to
