Buffalo woman charged with helping a fugitive hide

A 21-year-old Buffalo woman was indicted by a federal grand jury today on one count of concealing a person from arrest.

U.S. Attorney Williams J. Hochul, Jr. said Amber Pawlak faces a possible prison term of up to five years and a fine of up to $250,000 if convicted of repeatedly failing to disclose that she knew Clifton Jackson was hiding and that she had been in contact with him.

In April the fugitive Jackson was charged in a 66-count indictment with conspiracy to unlawfully use Social Security numbers, filing of false tax returns in 2011, and aggravated identity theft.
