Rural/Metro strike OK’d

About 400 workers represented by Teamsters Local 375 at Rural/Metro Medical Services have authorized their union to call a strike, as negotiations of a new contract continue, Rural/Metro said Monday.

The existing collective bargaining agreement with paramedics and emergency medical technicians is set to expire Sunday. Rural/Metro says talks are set to resume Wednesday.

If the union did call a strike, the Teamsters would be required to give Rural/Metro a 10-day strike notice before a walkout could begin.
