Letter: Clarence could use a balanced approach

Clarence could use a balanced approach

This solution for the Clarence schools financial problems proposed by Roger Showalter might work if approached slowly. Many years ago, I worked as a music teacher in a private school where 33 out of 22 teachers were replaced in a period of three years. It was disastrous! The children became extremely anxious, asking me each June, “Are you coming back?” The discipline went down the drain.

Experienced teachers are needed not only to mentor, but also to keep a learning climate intact. We also need to find another way to support education; homeowners can’t do it all. A balanced approach is needed.
